What important issues are we missing out on because of the Trump-Palin nonsense (that is sadly captivating)? Flint, Michigan’s poor and black community being poisoned by gross government negligence. Saudi Arabia and Iran in a showdown. The fact that the World Economic Forum has marked environment and climate threats the greatest problems our globalized economy faces (and created). That First Nations people and ranchers are facing down the most powerful corporations in the world. That Chinese cities have been bathed in smog. That there are refugees displaced by war from Syria to Central Africa. That global economic incentives are encouraging the destruction of the Mekong River.
Do not let the train wreck of glossy anti-intellectualism distract you from the tasks at hand. Love your neighbor as yourself, be your brother’s and sister’s keeper, and speak truth to power.
