The Centre Daily Times reports that Clearwater Conservancy raised the money to place the Meyer-Everhart farms into conservation. This was a big team effort. This success is what happens when we put our money where our mouths are and do what we know is right…together. I’m so thankful to the folks at Clearwater, members of our community who donated, as well as the local municipalities and authorities. On a personal note, I want to thank Clearwater’s executive director Deb Nardone for leading the effort and my board friends and colleagues, Scot Chambers, Erik Foley, Steve Maruszewski, Donnan Stoicovy, and the Clearwater staff, especially Kevin Abbey, for championing the effort. Of course, the biggest thanks go to the Meyers and Everharts for working together on this.
Most of all, I’d like to thank the Meyers and the Everharts for working together to preserve this land. It is part of our region’s character, sits uphill from Slab Cabin Run and a very productive well field, and will soon be the site of a strengthened ecosystem. Take the time today or tomorrow to send any of these people a note of gratitude.
