Local climate action in central PA

Quick thought: In 2017, I put forward central Pennsylvania’s first net zero greenhouse gas resolution. In the eight years since, the resolution has a life of its own because action on climate change is part of what our area does now.

Our local governments have…

…created a state of the art climate action and adaptation plan,
…invested in numerous solar-power LEED Silver, Gold, and Platinum facilities with more on the way, including two schools awarded funding from the PA Solar for Schools program,
…passed ordinances designed to protect groundwater and enhance low-impact and forward-thinking stormwater infrastructure,
…signed a 10-government solar power purchase agreement, the largest-by-member PPA of its kind in the Commonwealth and maybe the country,
…purchased more electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles while supporting more EV infrastructure, and
…supported teaching and education about human interference with the climate and what we can do about it together.

All these came to life by teams of committed and caring people. They heard your concerns and hopes, took on challenges, and rose to the occasion.

In a time of incredible distrust, when merchants of doubt are doing their worst, it’s good to know local governments here are responsive and responsible.
